# Pricing guide — V1 Canvas vs V2 Wax

**Market context:** Val-David · *vacances de la construction* · premium / “rich-hippy” crowd
**Strategy:** Tag at the **high end** of craft ranges. This audience pays for unique, well-made, waxed, and one-of-a-kind — not flea-market bargains.

**Currency:** local $ (same as your cost book). Round tags cleanly ($48, $65, $78, $95…).

## Positioning (read this once)

| Do | Don’t |
|----|--------|
| Lead with **wax (V2)** and best pieces at eye level | Apologize for prices or open with a discount |
| Say “handmade, unique, professional” like a fact | Undercut yourself because the table fee was only $45 |
| Use **V2 as the hero** ($ gap is part of the story) | Price V1 and V2 the same |
| Hold the tag; negotiate only a little if at all | Invent random promos under pressure |
| Take **custom orders + deposit** | Promise free redesigns without money down |

Vacation / resort-town energy = people are **already spending**. Confidence sells.

## Quick ladder — premium booth (Val-David)

| Family | Patterns | **V1 Canvas** | **V2 Wax** |
|--------|----------|---------------|------------|
| Small pouches | Square Boxed, Plover S | **$40** | **$48** |
| Medium pouches | Plover M | **$52** | **$65** |
| Large pouch / mini bag | Plover L, Not So Bumbastic | **$62** | **$75** |
| Wearable | Lowland Bum Bag, Sandhill | **$75** | **$92** |
| Big hip / totes | Bumbastic, 241 Tote, Costa | **$88** | **$108** |

Special print / perfect hardware / “the one they can’t stop touching”: **+$5 to +$15** on that piece only.

**Never** price V2 equal to V1. Wax is the premium story for this crowd.

## Cost floors (absolute minimum — do not go here unless clearing stock)

Rough material + $2 labels + $5 supplies (labor extra):

| Pattern | ~V1 floor | ~V2 floor |
|---------|-----------|-----------|
| Square Boxed | ~$18 | ~$22 |
| Plover M | ~$25 | ~$30 |
| Not So Bumbastic | ~$28 | ~$32 |
| Lowland Adult | ~$30 | ~$35 |
| Sandhill | ~$35 | ~$42 |
| Bumbastic | ~$35 | ~$40 |
| 241 Tote | ~$40 | ~$48 |
| Costa Tote | ~$45 | ~$55 |

At Val-David, healthy tags are closer to **3×–4×** material+overhead, not 2×.

---

## Custom orders (premium crowd loves “make me one”)

| Situation | Price |
|-----------|--------|
| Same as a table bag | **Table V1/V2 tag** (no discount for ordering) |
| Special fabric / hardware | **+$10 to +$25** |
| Rush before end of vacation | **+$20** or decline |
| **Deposit** | **40–50%** (min **$25**) |

Rich-hippy + vacation = they will order if the bag on the table is “almost” right. Capture deposit **same day**.

## Money rules for *this* weekend

1. Tags on **before** anyone asks.
2. V2 always clearly higher — say “waxed canvas” out loud.
3. Table fee is **sunk** — ignore it when pricing.
4. Prefer **holding price** over filling a bag with cheap sales.
5. One soft close only if truly dead: e.g. “two small pouches for $X” — not 20% off the whole table.
6. Smile, story, fabric in the hand — then the number.
